National Falls Prevention Awareness Day 2010
September 23, 2010 is National Falls Prevention Awareness Day. It was created to promote public awareness about how to prevent and reduce falls among older adults. Falls are the leading cause of fatal injuries for Americans age 65 and older. In addition, the National Council on Aging reports that the United States spends about $19 billion a year on medical care related to falls. However, many falls can be prevented. "Learn Not to Fall" is a new website with a lot of fall prevention tips.
